Artifact Commentary #4

 

               The concept that I will use most beyond this class is the rhetoric of assent. In college you must learn to assent to the teacher whether you agree or disagree with their values in their teaching style. The best thing I can do to better myself is keep open mindedness with all my classes and see value in the material I am learning. Learning to do truth tables in my logic class is like learning a new language and learning to do sentence puzzles in math that require you know the foundation of the basics of learning, to move on to more complicating proofs and higher level courses. Grades reflect not our knowledge we acquire from the course, but the discipline of how hard we worked for our grade to wanting to be in the course we take.  We should not blame the instructor for giving us a bad grade but rather see what concepts we are failing to understand and assent to learn it the proper way in the class. Life is a conversation between people spreading ideas and the more general knowledge you have in life, the more opportunities you will have in the future of choosing a carrier. My future carrier would be an art major so I could use conversations in art to understand the message behind what the artist is portraying to further my own art style in drawing or painting. Life is learning from each other and using the conversation of others from listening to them to acquiring our own rhetoric beyond English 101, to see the real life practices.
